US-Based Transportation & Distribution Plan Helps
Canadian Company Thrive
Challenge: We worked with a Canadian client that wanted to sub-contract their US distribution operations to reduce operating costs but more importantly to allow them to focus
on the core business as a manufacturer.
Solution: We worked together to develop a transition plan that would allow them to
continue to provide on time deliveries to their customers, which include major box
stores. At the same time transition their freight to one of our warehouses where we
would take over and manage their transportation and distribution operations, this
included removal of their racking and decommissioning of their facility.
Results: We provided them additional value added services at no additional cost which
provided them 24/7 access to view the inventory levels, transactions, run customized
reporting, and the ability to track their shipments online.
Big-Name Brewery Masters Complexities of
the Beer Market in India
Challenge: The beer market in India is highly regulated in the form of multiple taxes and
duties while transporting beer across provinces. One of the largest breweries in the
world, was skeptical that any kind of network design or route planning would be beneficial. Many top tier consulting firms failed to prove so.
Solution: Gazelle took up the challenge and after studying the cost structures of the
chain, used optimization tools to plan which brewery should produce how much beer
and ship to which province taking into account all taxes and duties.
Results: Comparing with their original planning—which was manual, we showed them
a benefit of 8% on their overall supply chain costs.
